TAB-Fokus no. 11: New medicines for neglected diseases

A lack of drugs with which to combat poverty-related diseases is a global health problem. This book presents various initiatives by public, non-profit or private actors which aim at strengthening product development regarding such diseases and discusses the political options for promoting engagement in this field. Impact assessments take into consideration the practical relevance and scope of regulatory elements as well as ways of imparting knowledge and building capacity in countries of the Global South. For several years, German policy has signaled a stronger willingness to deal with this problem. This book provides substantial information for the further discussion of different approaches to strengthening product development with regard to neglected poverty-related diseases and to aligning the medical and technical innovation system to them.

The English summary of the report and TAB's policy brief no. 11, which are now available in English, features the key findings of the report.
