Activity Report 2016/2017

Right in the first working session of the newly formed Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment (ABFTA), TAB was given an extensive opportunity to introduce itself to the 42 members of the committee (including 27 new members). The head of the TAB, Armin Grunwald, as well as Sonja Kind from the consortium partner VDI/VDE-IT and Michaela Evers-Wölk from the IZT explained the tasks, working methods and focal points of our special consulting institution, whose direct client is the ABFTA. Both this general overview and the subsequent presentation by Christoph Kehl, who presented the results of the TAB report »Robotik in der nursing«, which is due for approval, met with great interest on the part of the committee members and generated lively enquiries, which leads us to expect a committed continuation of the successful cooperation between TAB and ABFTA in the new legislative period.

Just in time for the kick-off presentation in the large hearing room of the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, the 2016/2017 activity report was presented to the members of the German Bundestag, providing an overview of TAB's activities and research results in the second half of the past legislative period. In addition to a review and outlook of TAB's work programme, the new activity report documents further developments in the area of horizon scanning/technology foresight as well as activities to involve societal stakeholders and increase the public visibility of TA in the German Bundestag since 2016. The focus is on 11 completed projects ranging from A for "Additive manufacturing processes (3-D printing)" to W for "White biotechnology". An outline of TAB activities in the EPTA network, a list of publications in 2016 and 2017, and a brief introduction of the consortium partners round off the 36-page brochure.
