Due to the federal elections and the subsequent reconstitution of the responsible committee and the rapporteurs groug TA this activity report covers the years 2024 and 2025. It provides an overview of the TAB’s activities, developments, and key findings during this period, demonstrating how parliamentary technology assessment helps the German Bundestag anticipate and assess the implications of scientific and technological change.

Continuity and new developmenta

Alongside the continuation of traditional technology assessment analyses, key working methods and formats were further developed. These include the introduction of concise analysis formats, the expansion of foresight activities, and the development of science communication.

With new instruments such as TA compact studies, foresight reports and resilience analyses, the TAB is expanding its Portfolio to support Parliament’s advisory needs in a more flexible and forward-looking way.

A broad range of topics and key findings

Eight comprehensive TA projects and six TA Compact studies were completed in 2024 and 2025. These were supplemented by numerous publications, including working papers, summaries and thematic analyses as part of the Horizon Scanning programme.

The range of topics covered extends from biotechnology and health to energy, digitalisation, infrastructure issues, and resilience to crises and climate change.

Scientific advice in parliamentary dialogue

The TAB’s work is carried out in close consultation with the German Bundestag. Regular meetings with the Technology Assessment Rapporteurs’ Group, as well as other dialogue formats, ensure continuous feedback between the scientific community and Parliament.

The Activity Report brings together the main topics, findings and developments of the past two years and provides a gateway to the TAB's analyses, publications and activities.
